Research panel

A pre-recruited pool of people who have agreed to take part in surveys and studies, usually for an incentive.

Panels supply most survey sample. Quality varies. Fraud, speeding and professional respondents are persistent problems that AI has made worse and is also being used to detect.

Synthetic panels are the AI-native alternative for some uses. A real panel is still necessary when the decision is expensive and the audience is specific.
