Codeframe
The set of themes or codes used to classify open-ended responses or transcript passages so they can be counted and compared.
A codeframe is where qualitative data becomes something you can count. It used to be built by hand after reading a sample. Now a language model often drafts it and a researcher refines it.
Codeframes drift between studies and between coders. Versioning them, and checking a model's assignments against a sample, is basic hygiene for an insights engineer.
