Automate the second time
The rule that anything asked twice becomes a system, and anything asked monthly becomes a read that runs before anyone asks.
The first time a stakeholder asks a question, answer it by hand and learn its shape. The second time, build the system. A saved query, a scheduled read, an agent, a dashboard. The third time, the answer is already waiting.
This habit is what separates an insights engineer from an insights manager. It lets a team of three replace a six-week study cycle with answers that keep arriving.
