Insights engineer
A consumer insights professional who builds the system that answers a research question, instead of running another study.
An insights engineer is the role that replaces the insights manager. An insights manager briefs vendors and delivers decks. An insights engineer starts with a hypothesis about one decision the business has to make, proves it on work already sitting on an operator's desk, and turns anything asked twice into a system that runs before the next ask.
The title follows analytics engineer and GTM engineer. When AI reached those functions, they did not disappear. They got a more technical, more embedded version of the role.
Insights engineers keep score in hours given back and decisions changed, and they do not count studies completed.
